Pennsylvania and New York 2017
Pennsylvania

21/4/17
Got up and had breakfast. Tried to find my contacts and realised that that I left them in Deadwood. Went to the Battle of Gettysburg and looked at the dead men. Gettysburg is a unique town. We drove most of the way round and then we headed off to Hershey’s Chocolate Factory. We went for a tour and saw that they get their cocoa from Mexico where we watched them make it on Chipas. And how they make the chocolate. We bought some chocolate to take home. On the way Mark had a phyco attack in the car. We then pushed on to Philadelphia where we stayed at the Penrose Hotel. We are on the 12th floor with a view to kill for. I opened the door opening to the room next to us and there was a surprise of a smelly smelly pair of work boots. We went to the restaurant and bar at the Hotel for dinner. We had a Steak Sandwich and a Philly Relaxer Drink. Mark had a Psyco attack.

Got up in the morning to find that the smelly work boots gone. We went to the Philadelphia peniterium and had a tour. We got ripped off with the parking but there was nothing we could do about it. We got lost in Philadelphia a few times but all worked out well. We headed to New York and it was the scariest driving I have ever experienced. I was that scared of having a crash just because we had to get the car back at 2pm. Never again I done want that anxiety. Got back to airport and dropped the car off and caught the shuttle bus to the Motel In Manhattan. We are right in the middle of Midtown, right next to Time Square/Broadway. We had the horniest bus driver ever/he just kept beeping his horn. We then went for a walk around town to see what it was like. Had dinner at a little diner just down from from time square. I had the claypot Salmon. It was delicious and not too much. This cost $100 and no left overs.

Got up nice and early. Listened to Mark winge again. I just got ready and went to breaky. I am over getting up at 10am. Caught the train to see the Statue of Liberty. We got our tickets at the gate only for the island tour. There was no tickets left to climb it. Walked around it and learnt that it was made out of copper and that is why it has turned green. It took about 10 years to turn green. Mr Eifel built the podium that the statue sits on. It was bought from France in pieces and erected on Liberty Island. I bought a small statue. Then we went to Ellis Island where the immigrants came to America to become an American citizen. They had different test that the immigrants had to pass and they got grouped up into their certain averages and sent to different jobs. If you were not smart enough, had a mental disability or ignorant you were sent back. The slaves were bought over and sold to anyone who was rich, fed up and put to work. Then we went to the 9/11 memorial which is 2 big fountain holes in the ground It was a good sight to see. Then we went to Wall street and saw the Charging bull where we got photos of the front and the back. We then trained it back into Broadway and got tickets to see Chiago. It was a good show and Mark got the rose at the end. We had a hot dog for lunch and Maccas for dinner. Both very cheap but not that good for you.

Slept in for a change. Had breaky and grabbed some bagles for lunch. Got on the hop on hop off bus and did a tour of uptown and downtown. Uptown is is where central Park is and the millionairs live like J Lo, Trump and Lady GaGa etc. The first part of town of Central Park starts at midtown and the other side of Central Park is the Bronx. We only went to Harlem in the Bronx, that was scary enough. Central park is a huge park and it has everything. It is just beautiful. We didn’t go through it but you can walk, horse and cart or bike taxi. Downtown, We went through the shopping district which a block was only for girls and they paid the security to protect them and is they were getting hassled by any males the security would deal with them. This is the money district. There is a china town which is the slums of the money district. I like New York but it is just too expensive a. and it is getting colder. My hair is really frizzy and my face is really moist. I haven’t had to use moisture cream for a couple of days.

Got up and had breakfast. Took 2 bagles for lunch. Packed and left our bags at the desk and went to aboard the hop on hop off bus Midtown route. This tour was from east to west with the singing tour guide. The traffic was worst as it was a Tuesday. It was raining a bit and we sat at the front of the bus, upstairs. We then took the Downtown route again as the headphones were not working yesterday. The traffic was just getting busier and busier. There was one building that took up probably a block and the guide told us that 39,000 work there. The tour guides were very good but the hassle and bustle was getting too much for me. We then walked back to the motel and stopped in a souvenir shop on the way as I wanted to get some bike pants and I had a poncho on. As I walked through the isle the poncho was collecting the little ornaments and breaking them. I bent down and put them on the bottom shelf and kept walking. They bike pants were too dear and I didn’t get them just left the broken ornaments. We then caught the shuttle to the JFK airport. It was bumper to bumper all the way. It took 3 hours to get there. The driver was on his phone for about an hour. I think I have put on 1or2kgs. Made it to the airport at about 6pm and booked in. It was raining and lucky that the flight wasn’t cancelled as the others to Canada were. We had dinner at Buffalo Wings and Mark had a beer which cost $11 he got ripped. Got on the plane and flew into Halifax at midnight caught the last bus and then onto the shuttle. We finally got to the motel after going to the motel across the road. Went straight to bed.
